Take your grandma to Oklahoma City for a fun day trip! I’ve got your guide!

We parked at the North Hudson Trolley Stop. When I was looking for a good place to get on and off the trolley that we could park the very closest spot. This was the one! There is a large parking area. The lot does have gravel on it but we pulled up literally to the ramp. She opened her front door and walked less than 10 steps to the trolley landing. It was the perfect spot to unload from the car and get on the trolley! The address of this trolley stop is 398 NW 11st St OKC, OK.

I had downloaded the Token Transit App on my phone and pre-purchased the trolley fare. It was super easy to purchase the tickets. You can buy a full day of rides or a single ride only. The fares were very, very, very inexpensive. They even gave discount rates to seniors, children and military personnell.

The trolley stop has a map that shows all the stops and where the actual trolley is on the map. So it gives you an estimate of what time the trolley should be arriving. There is a covered place with a small bench to sit. There is also standing room under the covered stop. There is plenty of room to stand close to the platform if there is no room on the trolley platform.

The trolley came to a complete stop and we entered the trolley and found a seat. Some people just stood and held on to the bar or the over head stability hanger. The trolley is fairly new so it was so neat and clean. I know why also it stays neat and clean. At one of the stops, the drivers switched. The previous driver, walked through the trolley and picked up trash and cleaned up a wet spot they saw on the floor! It looked very clean!

The entire time you are on the trolley it is communicating what stop you are coming up to next. It also informs you if you want to make an unscheduled stop just to ring the bell. They will stop anywhere along the route if you just let them know you want off the trolley.

Our trolley stop was going to be at the Bricktown Ball Park stop! We exited the trolley and made our way off the platform. We were going to walk to Toby Keith’s Bar and Grill. We the pressed the crosswalk signal and waiting for it to show us when to walk across the street. So far there have been no steps or difficult terrain.

Off The Trolley We Go!

Making our way across the street we stayed on the top part of the Bricktown Water Canal. We crossed over a bridge and made our way down the ramp to the front of the restaurant. There is pavement the entire way. The total length of the walking was probably close to one length of a city block. It was very easy to maneuver. If your grandma had a wheelchair or scooter, they would very easily be able to get on the trolley and make their way to Toby Keith’s.

Got sat down and ordered at Toby Keith’s. Our party had the catfish, grilled chicken breast and sword fish! Everything was very good and excellent service while we were there! It is a fun atmosphere where there are TV’s, music and lots of people! There are lots of things to look at on the walls and they do have a small gift area where you could get sauces or a T-Shirt to take home as a souvenir.

After we ate we walked back over to the Bricktown Baseball Field. Crossed back over the streets.

The streets all have traffic but they also have traffic lights that have crosswalk directions provided. All the traffic will stop for you to cross the street and there are always lots of people walking around so you won’t be there alone.

Make Plans To Ride The Water Taxi

We made our way to the Water Taxi Booth on the street level and purchased a ticket to ride the water taxi. They also provide private tours if you have a large group and can book it in advance. There is an elevator to get down to the lower level of the canal so you can get on the water taxi.

The water taxi loads and has 2 steps down and benches and seats all around the boat. There is a guide on the boat that gives you the highlights of the canal and things to look at all along the way! The most impressive by far is the life-sized sculpture depicting the Okalhoma Land Run! Very impressive! No words can describe it, you just have to go see if for yourself!

The Water Taxi ride lasts approximately 45 minutes and they bring you back to where you started! The driver tells funny jokes and keeps you entertained along the way!

We tipped the driver and got off the boat and headed back towards the elevator to head back up to the upper level. At this point you can cross the street, get back on the trolley and head back towards your car.

Or you can cross the street and get some yummy ice cream that is within walking distance!

Fun Had By All!

This trip is super easy for seniors and is very fun and entertaining for them as well! They will not forget this trip if you take them on it!

Enjoy your lovely day!
