The Last Day Of School

Last Day Of School
Last Day Of School

Do you remember the feeling of the last day of school?

A day of relief, a feeling of freedom from a schedule and the thought of summer!

One “last day of school” memory I have was when I was in 4th grade.  My 4th grade teacher was about four foot 10 inches tall, she had a gray bun on the top of her head with a pencil to hold it together and fixed it that way every single day.  She wore a suit, hose and heels and was tough!  I didn’t enjoy that year especially but on the last day of school my mom and dad sent a bouquet of balloons for me!  I still remember carrying those balloons as I walked home on that last day of school and my first day of summer!

So with the last day of school on our mind, we have the next three months to hit summer with our best shot!

Warm rays of summer are calling all families to outdoor adventures and quality time together!  With all the access we have to Beavers Bend State Park and lake, hiking, and canoeing the options for summer activities are endless!  Spend your day swimming and lounging by the water, hiking through the trials around the area, there is something for everyone to enjoy.  Fishing has so many options with the river and lake or a relaxing picnic in the pine tree surroundings.  But don’t forget about the crackle of a campfire, the laughter of your loved ones at the cabin and the over consumption of s’mores!  Bring it summer, we are ready for ya!

Our family has had our Sea Doo’s in the repair shop getting ready for the summer season!  We can’t wait to get out on the lake.  Beavers Bend Marina is the only marina on the lake and this marina has it all, boat, Sea Doo and boat slip rentals.  It has fishing tackle, lures, boat supplies, snacks, ice, soft drinks, apparel, coolers, boating equipment and fuel. And isn’t it just fun to go to the marina!

Things that you can participate in on Broken Bow lake with your boat are kneeboards, wakeboards, tubes and water skis and these are all popular on Broken Bow Lake.

The Mountain Fork and Glover Rivers are perfect for canoes, kayaks or rafts for the whole family. The rivers contain areas with thrilling water rapids and waterfalls, or calmer areas where a leisurely float might be more your speed.

Take the kids fishing!  Broken Bow lake is known for its largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and crappie.  My husband and son reserved a guide that took them fishing on the lake and I have some really cool pictures of the entire back end of their pick up full of fish and also 4 or 5 bags full of frozen fish in my freezer just waiting to have a big fish fry!

The Beavers Bend State park contains trout streams where they release brown and rainbow trout.  Beginners and children fishing, and fly fishing are all very popular and can have success!

Okay so all the water activities may not be your thing, that’s okay. Enjoying all the different restaurants, picnicking or cooking out at your cabin may be the perfect getaway for you!  If you Google restaurants in Hochatown, between the Sonic in Broken Bow to The Meltdown in Hochatown, there are well over 30 different places you could stop and eat.  I’m not talking about fast food chain restaurants either, I’m talking about places that offer entertainment while you eat, there are restaurants that have coolers of pies and cakes to serve for dessert or restaurants that you have to have a reservation or you can’t get in.  There are food trucks to try, latte’s at coffee shops and ice cream to consume all along the way!

marshmallows over a fire

No stay in Hochatown is complete without sitting by the firepit at your cabin and enjoying the night ski and smores.  The sound of the pine trees blowing in the breeze is indescribable and if you haven’t heard it. Rent a cabin and go sit outside with no distractions and just listen as the pine trees sway and blow in the breeze.  It’s a sound for sure!  As the evening takes over the summer day, gathering around the crackling fire pit is a perfect way to cap the day!  The scent of burnt marshmallows and the laughter coming from cherished conversations will be the best start to summer.

Book your stay today at our cabin in Hochatown! Complete with access to the lake, a fire pit and easy paved roads to the restaurants. Click this link to book today!
