Our Gals That Gather widow group came together for an indoor picnic! Even though the summer heat kept us inside, we brought the charm of a picnic right into the church fellowship hall.

I mailed out these invitations a week before the event and I texted a picture of this to them a week before as well. When I text them I divide it into three different group texts. I always encourage them to come.

The fun began at 11:30 as everyone started to arrive. To give us a little time to gather, we played a few rounds of Picnic Bingo while waiting for all our ladies to come in. I ordered Picnic Bingo off of Etsy and then went to Staples and used their color copier to print them off.
Tiffany and I provided the chicken, salad, and tea, while the rest of the gals filled the tables with sides to share. I had ordered a week in advance fried chicken from Chicken Express to be picked up that morning of the picnic. Then I did a Wal-Mart pick up on my way to work early that morning to get the salad kits, tea and the beans we used for Bingo markers.
We had all the picnic favorites, potato salad, pasta salad, fresh fruit, and plenty of delicious surprises from everyone’s kitchens. There were cakes, cookies and Juanita’s homemade butterscotch pie!

Of course, no picnic is complete without the right setting! The tables were dressed in classic red-and-white checkered tablecloths, setting the stage for a cozy afternoon together. I thought it would be a pop of color to use sun flowered paper plates and napkins. After we prayed, plates were filled and hearts were full as we shared a meal side by side.

Dessert came with more Bingo rounds, lots of laughter, and a few sweet prizes. I handed out heart-shaped sunglasses for a little extra fun, because you have to have sunglasses when you go to a picnic! For Bingo prizes, each gal received a hand lotion, making sure everyone left with a little something special.
By the end of the afternoon, we had 22 ladies gathered, sharing stories, laughter, and friendship. Days like this remind me of the joy that comes when we simply sit together, share a meal, and encourage one another.
Our Gals That Gather group is more than just events, it’s a family. And whether it’s an indoor picnic, a lunch, or just a good conversation, these moments are the ones that fill our hearts.
