This past weekend, I had the absolute joy of taking my widow’s group from church called the Gals That Gather on a special road trip adventure!

We boarded a chartered bus in Ada, full of laughter and excitement, and made our way to Krebs, Oklahoma, for a delicious meal at the famous Pete’s Place. It never is just about the destination—it was about the fellowship, the memories, and the chance to spend time together, sharing stories and encouragement along the way. From road trip bingo to music and trivia, we made every mile count, and of course, the homemade Italian food at Pete’s Place did not disappoint!

As we made our way through town everyone just talked to each other, catching up on all the weather, their daily activities and updates on family.

To make our journey just as fun as the destination we had a few travel games and activities! If you’re heading to Pete’s Place in Krebs, OK, or just enjoying a scenic drive, these games will keep everyone entertained.

Oklahoma Road Trip Bingo! 🚌✨

Make your drive more exciting with Oklahoma Road Trip Bingo! Each passenger gets a bingo card filled with landmarks and sights they might see along the way. Mark off each item as you spot it—the first one to get BINGO! wins a small prize!

As we rolled down the highway, I passed out a printed Road Trip Bingo sheet and a pen to each of the ladies, explaining that when they got a bingo, they should holler it out loud! It didn’t take long before the excitement kicked in, with everyone scanning the passing scenery, checking off water towers, barns, and cowboy hats along the way. Every time someone called out “Bingo!” the whole bus cheered, and I handed out fun little prizes—fingernail files for each winner. It was such a simple game, but it kept us all engaged, laughing, and soaking in the journey together.

After the laughter from Bingo settled down and we continued down the road, I had the ladies hold onto their papers and pens because we weren’t done having fun just yet! Next up was a purse scavenger hunt, where they would tally hash marks for every item we called out that they had in their bag. From lipstick to an old receipt, the challenge was on to see who carried the most everyday (or unexpected!) essentials. It was the perfect way to keep the energy going and share some laughs as we compared what treasures—or surprises—were hiding in our purses!

We named all of these items one by and to see if anyone had them in their purses.

Scavenger Hunt Items:

  • Lipstick
  • Gum or Mints
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Tape Measure
  • Old Receipt
  • Pen or Pencil
  • Tissue or Napkin
  • Coin (any denomination)
  • Mirror
  • Sunglasses
  • Hairbrush or Comb
  • Safety Pin
  • Lotion
  • Cough Drop
  • Bandaid
  • Pack of Gum
  • Business Card
  • Perfume Sample
  • Grocery List
  • Nail File
  • Candy Wrapper
  • Chapstick
  • Loyalty Card
  • Sticky Note
  • Phone Charger
  • Flashlight (Mini or Keychain)
  • Picture of a Loved One

We did a bonus round asking if anyone if they had anything unusual in their purse and it would be worth extra points. We asked what they had, someone had scissors, someone had dental floss and someone had a mustard packet. Everyone got a big laugh about that! All the winners got a small hand lotion for THEIR PURSE lol.

As we continued our journey to Pete’s Place, we tested our knowledge with a fun round of Pete’s Place Trivia – Krebs & Italian History Edition! I asked questions about the rich Italian heritage of Krebs, Oklahoma, and the ladies eagerly chimed in with their best guesses. We learned that Pete’s Place first opened in 1925 and is famous for its homemade pasta and lamb fries. We also discovered why Krebs is known as “Little Italy”—many Italian immigrants settled there to work in the coal mines in the early 1900s. It was a great way to pass the time, spark conversation, and build excitement before arriving at our delicious destination!

  • What year did Pete’s Place open? (1925!)
  • What famous Italian dish is Pete’s Place known for? (Homemade pasta & lamb fries!)
  • Why is Krebs, OK, known as “Little Italy”? (Many Italian immigrants came to work in the coal mines in the early 1900s!

After a fun-filled ride, we finally arrived at Pete’s Place in Krebs, ready to enjoy a delicious meal together. As we walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home. We found our seats, settled in, and took our time looking over the menu, with many of us reminiscing about past visits or sharing recommendations. When the food arrived—heaping plates of homemade pasta, savory meatballs, and, of course, the famous lamb fries—it was well worth the trip! But more than the meal itself, it was the joy of being together, sharing stories, and making new memories that made this experience so special.

As we enjoyed our meal, we had an extra special reason to celebrate—one of our dear widows was turning 97 years old today! With smiles all around, we joined together in singing Happy Birthday to her, filling the restaurant with joy and laughter. She beamed as we honored her, a true inspiration to all of us. Her strength, wisdom, and grace remind us of the beauty of a life well-lived, and it was a privilege to celebrate such a milestone with her. What a blessing to share in this moment of love and gratitude!

On the ride back, we kept the fun going with a lively game of Guess That Song – Oklahoma Edition! I played classic country, gospel, and oldies songs, and the ladies eagerly tried to guess the song title and artist first. Laughter and friendly competition filled the bus as familiar tunes played, bringing back memories and sparking conversations about favorite songs and artists. It was the perfect way to wrap up our trip, keeping the energy high and the joy flowing all the way home!

These were some of the Oklahoma-Themed Songs:

“Oklahoma!” (from the musical)
“Take Me Back to Tulsa” – Bob Wills
“I Ain’t in Checotah Anymore” – Carrie Underwood
“Tulsa Time” – Don Williams
“Okie from Muskogee” – Merle Haggard

As our journey back to Ada continued, we decided to let the ladies simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. After all the fun and laughter from our games, it was nice to take in the scenery and reflect on the wonderful day we had together. If we had more time, we might have played Would You Rather – Travel Edition, sparking fun debates about dream destinations and travel preferences. But instead, we let the peaceful hum of the bus and the joy of a day well spent settle in, making for a perfect ending to our trip.

Would You Rather – Travel Edition

  • Would you rather visit Italy or Hawaii?
  • Would you rather go on a cruise or a train trip?
  • Would you rather travel back in time or into the future?
  • Would you rather eat Italian food for a week or BBQ for a week?

If time had allowed, another fun activity we could have added to our bus ride was a round of Oklahoma trivia! With so much rich history, famous landmarks, and unique state facts, it would have been a great way to test our knowledge and learn something new. From questions about Oklahoma’s famous Route 66 to its state flower, the Indian Blanket, and even fun facts about famous Oklahomans, it would have been an entertaining and educational way to keep the trip lively. Maybe next time, we’ll have to include it in our lineup of road trip games!
