Take a deep breath! You got Thanksgiving over with now it’s time for Christmas!
My mom told me the other day we only have three weeks from Thanksgiving till Christmas this year, I was like, hold on one minute!
When I sit down to think about sharing this article it always makes me stop and think about each article’s theme for that month and what memories I have that I want to share with you.
So this time I’m sharing, when I was growing up, we celebrated with my grandparents on Christmas Eve and we always had a red Christmas punch that my grandma made.
The punch bowl was always placed on a red tablecloth on her kitchen table, and there were small red and green holly glass matching cups that we were served. She has passed on and one of my cousins got the punch bowl and cups which is great, they have the same memories as me.
But I was so excited because my cousin has an online auction site and in one of the lots he was selling, there they were!
The same Christmas glasses she had on her Christmas Eve table! I really wanted those Christmas glasses. I didn’t bid high enough, but it’s okay, the memories are still in my mind with or without the Christmas holly cups.
Have you ever taken those personality strength tests or found what your interests are?
Aren’t they fun!
It just sometimes accentuates things you enjoy and what you are really good at and then hopefully you implement them in your lives so your days are more enjoyable.
I did one of those tests a few years back and I figured out that my personality, strength or things I like to accomplish came down to one word.
The word was ”experience”! I love to create experiences for my family, like when we go on vacations or even for their school lunches. I want them to know the extra I added is for them to feel loved.
When my mom wants to give a gift, it may not be an expensive gift, but she wants for the receiver to feel extra special, she will write a poem to go with it.
Then you know you’ve got something special.
The last poem she wrote she gave her bicycle riding friends a handkerchief, but accompanied it with a poem!
They loved it, it made that everyday nose dabbing and sweat across the brow wiping handkerchief extra special.
So speaking of experiences and you being extra special to read this article. Here is a poem for you!
In the heart of Hochatown, where tall pines sway,
There are cabins that await for a holiday stay.
The Ouachita Mountains waiting to be frosted in white,
Whisper of wonders on a winter’s night.
By Beaver’s Bend, the river runs clear,
A perfect retreat for Christmas cheer.
A crackling fire glows through frosty pines,
While winter’s stillness feels divine.
Decked with holly, the cabins glow,
While nature outside wears its winter clothes.
I hope your journey brings joy and cheer,
And Hochatown memories you’ll hold dear.
So Merry Christmas from me! I can’t wait to see what 2025 holds for you, what memories you will make and what experiences you will plan! See you next year!
